CNA Clinical Skills Test Checklist
Prepare for the CNA clinical skills examination with this detailed 10-page checklist outlining the performance checkpoints evaluators use to assess 22 essential nurse aide skills.
The checklist includes:
Handwashing and indirect care requirements
Resident safety, privacy and communication
Ambulation and transfers using a gait belt
Bedpan assistance and occupied-bed care
Positioning and range-of-motion exercises
Personal care, bathing and infection-control procedures
Step-by-step evaluation checkpoints for each skill
Guidance on how the clinical skills test is administered
During the clinical skills examination, candidates perform five scored skills. Handwashing and indirect care are evaluated for every candidate, along with three additional selected skills.
This checklist is designed to help CNA candidates understand what evaluators observe during testing. It is a reference checklist—not a substitute for hands-on instruction, complete skill procedures or current state testing requirements.
